KOCH
Ariane
Ariane Koch was born in Bielefeld in 1963 and studied arts in Rosenheim, Munchen and Witten. Sice 1991 she has worked as an independent artist; since the, her work has been shown in many exhibitions among others in Munchen (Galerie Krupan), Yorkshire Theatre Gallery (Leeds), Galerie Nicolas Kiwall (Paris) and in the Stadtische Galerie Witten. Arke Galerie (Dortmund) represented her at the Art fair in Koln. All three handmade silkscreens of Arianne Koch have the sparseness of the image in common. The message of the image expresses itself through very restrained signs., for example, the red cross, which when looking at the context looses its structured connotation in favour of the deconstructed iconography, normally a sign points to something concrete; but not with Ariane Koch. Her image-signs work like numbers from which you cannot clearly decode their meaning. The signs are placed together in an aesthetic formation; in this way, Arianne Koch creates a new form-like art language whose meaning you only can understand when looking at the aesthetic signs.
