BLACK
Alison
Alison Black was born in Hertfordshire in 1965. Now living in Bristol, she worked in the media initially and started to exhibit painting around 6 years ago. She started out with graffiti style paintings but these have become more abstract as time went on. Her most recent portraits are strong, colorful and vibrant like the characters themselves. The images we have here are of an American influence - markedly the Graffiti style of Basquiat, one of the leading lights of the 80s art movement in NYC. Her images are a love song to the Big Apple and that includes its most famous inhabitants - its towering skyscrapers.
But her wider portfolio includes some of the giants of pop culture such as Vivienne Westwood, Isabella Blow & Johnny Rotten
